When we start any business we make mistakes, and we usually don´t ask for help as we want to figure out a way to overcome different problems on our own.
This is something that happened to me when I just started in the online world, as I wanted to do things my own way, wasting a lot of time and money, which could´ve been saved if I known some of the following 5 keys to online success:
1. Building a list.
One of the biggest mistakes marketers usually make is not building a list. Usually they send all the traffic (eyeballs) directly to the sales page, hoping people will buy from them. Statistics say that the sales conversation rates are about 1-2%; this means that only 1 or 2, out of 100, people will buy from you, so, what happens with the other 98-99 people? You have just lost them. Creating a list of emails will help you in different ways: as it takes an average of 7 exposures for someone to make a decision to buy, having a list of emails will allow you to show many times your product or service; having an email list will also help you to build rapport with your possible clients, increasing the chances they buy something from you; bottom line, having an email list will help you follow up with people who bought and people who didn´t from you.
2. Automated systems.
If you think about the whole sales process you will realize there are many elements involved: traffic coming to your website, having to build a website, email follow up, sales pages, product delivery, etc. Now, imagine you had to do all this every time a customer came to your website and bought something from you! As you are an entrepreneur, a business person, your time is precious. For this reason, you need to implement automated systems; elements taking care of the whole sales process even when you are on vacations.
3. A mentor.
This one was huge for me. At the beginning, I wanted to do everything on my own and my own way, wasting a lot of time and money. That´s when I read that I needed to find a mentor; somebody with the results I was looking for and basically apply everything this person was doing in his/her business. That´s when I had a breakthrough as I realized I was doing many things in the wrong way. Now, I listen to my mentors and do whatever they tell me to do, as I know they have tested those strategies/actions and I know those worked for them as well.
This one goes hand-in-hand with having a mentor. What would be the purpose of having a mentor if you could not reach out to him? Exactly! You need to find somebody that is willing to coach you and show you the right way to do things. At the beginning you might have to spend a lot of time with coaching, but eventually you will become better and able of doing things on your own, but having access and being able to reach out to your mentors is key!
5. Having or being part of a community.
As we know, people usually tell us things won´t work. That´s not the exception when it comes to online businesses. So, being part of a community of like-minded people, people who understand what you´re going through as they have gone through the same, and people who understand your dreams, it´s huge! Surrounding yourself with this kind of community will help you being on track as they will help you to get the results you are looking for and will lift you up whenever you need. Finally, this community can work as your mentor as many of these people might have the results you are looking for and they use different platforms to keep in touch within the community members.
