15 Powerful Way to Make Money While You Travel
7. Use Fiverr
1. Become a Freelancer
According to Ramit Sethi, author of the bestselling “I Will Teach You to Be Rich”, freelancing is the fastest way to make money online.
And I agree. In fact, that’s how I started.
For those who are not familiar with this term, a freelancer is someone who trades their skills for money and is self-employed – I mean, a freelancer does not necessarily have a boss or a long-term contract.
For instance, a writer, a web designer or a programmer.
With a little bit of patience, you can turn freelancing into a full-time job.
Many companies are willing to pay good money for a high-quality work, which is pretty attractive.
And since you can work from virtually any place in the world, freelancing is a good option if you’re planning to live as a nomad.
Now the million dollar question is:
How can you start with freelancing?
Step 1: Find your skill
You might be thinking:
“I don’t have any skill.”
“I’m not a good writer.”
“I don’t know anything people would pay for.”
Well, you’re wrong.
What about drawing cartoons? There are tons of people making 4 and 5 figures doing it.
Or what about being a virtual assistant? Anyone can be a virtual assistant, and it’s a service with a huge demand.
Also, you can develop any skill you want. If you wish to be a writer, then start writing.
When I first started, I sucked at writing. Now I’m making a living by creating content for companies.
You can do the same.
The point here is to take action.
What skills do you already have?
What do your friends call you for advice on?
What kind of websites, magazines, and/or books do you read?
Basically, if you can solve somebody’s problem (doesn’t matter what kind of problem), you can be a freelancer.
Step 2: Develop a plan
Before you decide to quit your job and become a freelancer to travel around the world, you need to develop a plan.

First and foremost, you need to know exactly how many clients you need to replace your current income.
For instance, let’s say you’re currently earning $4,000/month and you plan to charge $300 for your services.
In that case, you would need 14 clients every month to replace your current income.
There’s no one-size-fits-all strategy to find all the clients you need, though.
However, step 3 will cover one of the best ways to start.
Step 3: Find your first 3 clients
3 clients are enough to start building a successful freelancing career, according to Ramit Sethi.
However, that’s extremely hard, right?
All you need to do is make a list of at least 10 people that might need your help and send them the following script:
I’m completely sure that if you proactively send that script to people you think may need your help, you’ll get your first 3 clients very quickly.
Note: To find an individual’s email, follow the instructions in this guide.

2. Start Your Own Blog
If you’re like most people out there, you might be thinking:
“Does anyone actually makes money from blogging?”
“Blogging isn’t a real career. It’s a hobby.”
Well, let me tell you…
According to The U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, an average college professor makes between $41, 600 and $83, 960, which is higher than the mean annual salary.
What are all those professors doing?
Teaching people what they know, right?
Also, consulting is a $415 billion industry, according to some studies.
What are consultants doing?
Again, teaching people what they know.
When it comes to blogging, it’s the same business model. You’re getting paid to teach what you know.
But instead of having students, you have an audience.
Instead of working in a classroom, you work wherever you want.
Instead of having a salary, you’ve customers and/or clients who pay for your premium material.
Sounds really straightforward, right?
Because it is.
But as we both know, you can’t expect just to build a blog today and start making money tomorrow; you need patience, dedication, and a good strategy.
But don’t worry, this guide has you covered.
Here’s an effective process you can follow to shortcut your path to success:
Step 1: Find a niche
Step 2: Set up your blog
Step 3: Develop a blogging strategy
Step 4: Build an audience

3. Drop Ship Physical Products

E-commerce is one of the most profitable markets in the world.
As a matter of fact, retail e-commerce reports over $200 billion dollars in sales in the United States alone every year.
Want to know the best part?
YOU can take advantage of that.
How? By starting your own online store.
It may sound scary, but don’t worry, it’s easier than what you think.
Just follow the steps below and you’ll be ok:
Step 1: Find a profitable niche
Step 2: Build an online store
Step 3: Find a supplier
Step 4: Promote your store
4. Resell Other People’s Services
Here’s the deal:
Sure, trading your skills for money is a superb idea…
…but in some cases, that requires a lot of time and effort.
First, you need to find a client. Then, once you’ve got a client, you need to complete the job, which generally is hard.
That’s definitely not for a lazy person, right?
If this is your case, I’ve an alternative for you:
You can resell other people’s services.
What do you mean by that? You ask.
Well, you could head over to a freelance community -like Fiverr- and pick the offer of your choice, let’s say it’s “Write a 500-word blog post for $5”.
Then, you could promote that same offer in another place. For example, forums, or social networks.
But instead of pricing your offer at $5, you could price it at $15, and once you get a client, you would just need to buy the gig from the guy you saw at Fiverr and tell him to write whatever your client asked for.
In this particular case, your profit would be $10.
Here’s a process you can follow to make this work.
Step 1: Head over to Fiverr
Step 2: Find a Gig
First, select the category of your choice:
Then pick an offer from the list.
Tip: Make sure to choose a gig with a ton of positive reviews. This way, you can be sure that person is delivering an excellent service.
Step 3: Find a Client
Once you’ve found a gig, it’s time to find your first paying client.
Just make a list of places where your prospective customer may hang out and start promoting your offer in those places.
For instance, if you’re providing logo designs, you could promote your offer in some business forums.
On the other hand, if you’re offering caricature drawing services, you could push that offer on niche forums and Facebook groups.
Finally, once you get your first client you just need to purchase the Fiverr gig you found in step 2.
And you’re done!
Once the person finishes the job, you just send it to your client and get paid.
5. Work Remotely
This is very similar to freelancing, but in this case, you do have a boss, a long-term contract, and a work schedule.
The benefits of working remotely are that you can work from any place you want. As long as you have an Internet connection, you’ll be ok.
Below you can find three articles that have listed dozens of companies that offer flexible jobs:

6. Sell your artwork online
In the “real” world, artists generally struggle to sell their art.
However, in the digital world things are much easier.
There are tons of communities where you can go and put your craft in front of an interested audience.
All you need to do is sign up to one of those communities, upload your art, and start selling.
So, if you’re a frustrated artist, you’re in luck.
Here’s exactly how to do it:
Step 1: Head over to ArtPal.com and create an account (don’t worry, it’s free)
First, click on “Sell Art.”
Now fill out the form and click on “Create your free gallery”.
Step 2: Upload your art
Click on “Add items” and start uploading your art.
Step 3: Promote your art
ArtPal has its own traffic, which means your art is likely to get seen even if you don’t promote it.
However, I highly recommend that you promote it anyway. This way, your chances to get a sale increase significantly.

7. Use Fiverr
For those who are not familiar with Fiverr, it’s a community where people can find freelancers to complete any kind of job, starting at $5.
And when I say “any kind of job,” I mean “ANY”. Just take a look at the following screenshot:
It looks pathetic, but that person has 473 buyers.
Considering that a Fiverr gig starts at $5, that guy has made at least $2365, just by singing “happy birthday” in a thong!
Let’s see another example:
In this case, that guy has made at least $4320 (864 buyers).
If those guys were able to make 4 figures with those crazy offers, do you think you can make some money, too? (If you said no, I will kill you).
Here’s a 4-step process you can follow to do it the right way:
Step 1: Sign up to Fiverr
Step 2: Create your first 10 gigs
First, hover the cursor on your account username and click on “Selling.”
Now click on “Create a gig.”
Then, you should create a headline for your offer.
Remember: This is the most important element of your offer and will determine the number of people who actually click on it, so you need to spend some time here until you’ve created a headline you’re satisfied with.
In case you’re wondering how to create a magnetic headline, you can read this guide from Copyblogger.
Once you’ve a headline in place, you should select a category.
Start uploading some images and then write a description for your gig.
Don’t overthink this process, just write exactly what you offer and describe why people should buy from you.
Finally, write some tags. These are words that are directly related to your offer.
Fiverr will use them to archive your gig properly.
For instance, if you’re offering a writing gig your tags could be:
- blog post writing
- article writing
- essay writing
So when people search for one of those phrases on Fiverr your gig will display.
Now click on “Save & Continue”.
Now repeat the process until you’ve created 10 gigs.
Why 10? You ask.
Creating a gig doesn’t guarantee you’ll sell immediately, so the more gigs you create, the higher your chances of selling are.
Step 3: Record a video for each one of your gigs
According to recent studies, 64 out of 100 people say they are more likely to buy a product after watching a video.
That’s why I encourage you to record a video for every one of your gigs. This way, your gigs are 64% more likely to convert.
You don’t need to worry about creating a perfect video, though. Just explain exactly what you offer. You don’t need more than 1-2 minutes of video for each gig.
And you’re done!
Now you only need to wait until someone orders your gig so you can start working.

Step 1: Head over to UserTesting.com and create a free account

9. Make Money As a Travel Photographer
One of the easiest ways to earn money while you travel is to take photos while you travel and sell them online.
As a matter of fact, Brendan Van Son, a travel blogger, has managed to raise his income up to $2,000 a month just by selling photos online.
This source of revenue has allowed Brendan to set foot in over 80 countries on 6 different continents in the past 5 years.
The good news is YOU can get similar results!
Just follow the process below:
Step 1: Head over to iStockPhoto and create an account.
Step 2: Start taking photos
You need to make sure your photos are in the highest quality possible. Otherwise, no one will buy them.
Step 3: Upload your photos
Before you can start selling, iStockPhoto asks you to upload some samples of your work.
If they like your samples, you’ll be accepted as a contributor.
Step 4: Get paid

If you don’t like to take risks, this may be the perfect option for you.
Paid surveys are very simple: You get paid for every survey you take. Some companies pay more than others, but generally, you can earn between $1 and $20 per survey.
Basically, the longer the survey, the more you can earn.
There are many survey networks you can be part of (both free and paid). You only need to create an account and fill up your profile.
Then those networks will start to send you surveys based on your demographics and psychographics.
There are really few people (if any) that can make a living by taking surveys and only taking surveys, though. So if you want to go ahead with this option, you’ll need to find a second stream of income.
That being said, here’s exactly how to start:
Step 1: Sign up to at least 5 survey networks
Here’s a list of the 9 best survey sites:
- Inbox Dollars
- Springboard America
- Harris Poll Online
- PineCone Research
Step 2: Fill out your profile accordingly
Remember, you receive surveys based on your demographics and psychographics, so make sure to fill out your profile correctly. This way, you’ll only receive surveys you can actually answer.
Step 3: Start taking surveys
Now you only need to wait until you receive your first survey.

13. Sell Your Own Product
In my personal opinion, this is one of the most efficient (and lucrative) business models.
First and foremost, you get 100% of the profit generated from every sale.
And second, you’ve what I call “Unlimited scalability.”
Why do I mean by that?
When you sell a service, you’ve a limited amount of clients you can handle at a time. For instance, let’s say you’re a web designer. How would you handle 100 clients yourself?
It’s virtually impossible, right?
Now, let’s say you’re selling an Ebook. How many copies can you sell?
That’s what I mean by “Unlimited scalability.”
20 years ago, people didn’t have the opportunity you and I have. Launching a successful business was a little bit harder.
To create a product, business owners had to deal with manufacturing costs, shipping costs, retailers, and so on.
Now you don’t need all that stuff (unless you want actually to create a physical product).
You can write an Ebook or create an online course and build a healthy business around it.
As a matter of fact, Amazon now sells more Ebooks than printed books. Kindle sales topped $1 million per week. (Source)
Now the million-dollar question is:
How can you start?

14. Leverage the power of CPA (Cost Per Action)
If you want to start making money right away without having to create a product or even build your own website, then CPA may come in very handy.
CPA stands for “Cost Per Action”, and it works the following way:
You earn money when people click on your affiliate link and complete a particular action.
What kind of action? You ask.
Well, it can be anything, but these are the most common ones:
- Signing up for a free trial
- Filling out a website form
- Buying a product or service
- Calling a business to request information
The money you can earn for each action can vary. For example, companies might pay more for a sale, than for a free trial sign up.
Also, you’ll get paid higher by getting people to fill out an extended form than a short one.
At the end of the day, your income will depend on the number of people you get to complete that particular action.
But don’t worry, CPA marketing is not that hard once you learn how to do it the right way.
To make thing easier. Here’s exactly how you can leverage CPA to start making money online:
Step 2: Pick up an offer
Step 3: Promote that offer

15. Promote Other People’s Product
As I said earlier, creating your own product is one of the most effective ways to make money online.
But as we both know, not everyone has the resources, experience, and money to do that.
In fact, that’s probably your case.
If so, you’re in luck, because now I’m going to show you how you can borrow other people’s product and build an entire business around it.
This way, you keep almost all the benefits of promoting your own product without having to deal with the challenges that it entails.
It’s Over to You
As you can see, making money while you travel is not that hard when you know where to look.
But I won’t lie to you…
Although you can start making money today, you won’t become rich overnight. In fact, you can even lose money, at first, but in my personal opinion, it’s completely worth.
As long as you practice and persevere, you’ll get better, and, ultimately, you’ll make more money.
Hopefully, this guide has given you all the resources you need to start living your dream.
What other ways do you know to make money while traveling?
